IMPACT UPDATE
Violent conflict in northern Ethiopia and a drought crisis in country’s southern regions have driven millions of families into devastating levels of severe hunger. An estimated 18% of the entire country (roughly 20 million people) face acute hunger. At a time when rising needs could soon outstrip resources, the first tranche from the XO Humanitarian Fund will provide critical support to two WFP programs in northern Ethiopia: emergency food assistance for nearly 60,000 people in conflict-affected areas and nutritional support for more than 16,000 malnourished children and pregnant or breastfeeding mothers. Overall, these funds will help reach more than 75,000 people across northern Ethiopia.
