Toula Athas manages our media relations, events, thought leadership, executive visibility and partner communications, with a focus on raising the visibility of our corporate, institutional and Goodwill Ambassador/celebrity partners. Her team is responsible for developing and executing impactful communications initiatives that increase World Food Program USA’s brand awareness and engagement among key stakeholders, as well as builds support for the mission of the United Nations World Food Programme.
A seasoned communications leader with nearly two decades in the field, Toula is passionate about cause marketing and driving social impact, building brands and leveraging the power of communications to create change.
Prior to joining World Food Program USA, Toula managed media relations and communications initiatives at Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE), where she focused on raising awareness of the public health epidemic of food allergies, in addition to helping advance critical advocacy, research, and quality of life initiatives on behalf of the 32M Americans with food allergies.
During her tenure at global communications firm Fleishman-Hillard, Toula developed and implemented communications programs on behalf of government, non-profit and corporate clients. She has served organizations including the Federal Trade Commission, Library of Congress (National Book Festival), Library of Congress’ National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, USDA Food and Nutrition Service, AARP and Visa, among others.
Toula graduated Magna Cum Laude from American University with a B.A. in Public Communication.
