Pope Francis To Speak On Ending Hunger At First Visit To World Food Programme
It is the first ever Papal visit to WFP, and comes during the first year of work towards the landmark Sustainable Development Goals. These 17 goals have been agreed by all UN Member States and aim to tackle the root causes of poverty and hunger. At the core of WFP’s work is a drive to achieve the goal of Zero Hunger by the year 2030.
During the morning event, Pope Francis will address members of WFP’s Executive Board who are representatives drawn from UN Member States.
The Pope will then make an address to WFP staff that will be webcast live to WFP country and field offices around the world.
Media Arrangements
Due to space limitations, a media pool of accredited journalists will be arranged by the Holy See Press Office. Only journalists in the pool will have access to the venue.
WFP’s photo and video team will also share high-quality photographs and broadcast-quality video via a download link after the event.
