Position Overview

World Food Program USA is hoping to bring on a dynamic and seasoned Director, Institutional Partnerships to focus on the aggressive but still authentic development of our pipeline of relationships with these religious mission-driven partners. We are hoping to bring on an individual interested in global humanitarian causes and experienced in building impactful partnerships and the associated events/activities to highlight these. Reporting to the Senior Director, Institutional Partnerships, this position will be responsible for the very targeted identification, cultivation, and solicitations of new partnerships, driving forward an agenda of bringing in new business in this space as well as implementation of the existing team strategy around our faith-based portfolio. This position and the wider faith-based team play a key role in supporting World Food Program USA’s ambitious growth goals for greater impact with faith-based partners.

Highlighted Responsibilities:

  • Strongly leading through a new business engagement approach of Identification and catalyzing new institutional particularly faith-based partnership prospects strongly aligned with the mission of the United Nations World Food Programme. 
  • Planning and execution of cultivation and solicitation strategies with a portfolio of strategic prospects to secure new large-scale partnership opportunities.
  • Stewardship and management of high-value partnership concepts and engagement approaches, in close collaboration with the Senior Director, Institutional Partnerships and the Senior Managers on the Institutional Partnerships team.
  • Review and develop compelling grant proposals and reports in close liaison with WFP staff and regional bureaus.
  • Contribute to setting of annual fundraising goals in coordination with the Senior Director and sub-team management of the Institutional Partnerships Relationship Managers working in this space.
  • Skillful onboarding of new partners to ensure a successful transition to a managed partnership.

Day-to-day activities will include but are not limited to:

  • Collaboration with WFP’s regional fundraising counterparts and technical units to develop prospect engagement strategies and partnership proposals.
  • Collaboration with colleagues in Marketing and Communications and Development Support to develop/implement cultivation and stewardship strategies for donors, including the implementation of a thought leadership strategy and outreach/visibility at key virtual and physical platforms.   • Supporting the management of a team of professionals responsible for new business fundraising and personalized current account management.
  • Updating and roll-out of a faith-based philanthropy strategy and associated Thought Leadership events and workplan.
  • Developing the capacity of the team and supporting team member career development through information, tools and resources to improve performance, reach goals, and test/learn new approaches.

Qualifications:

A well-qualified candidate will possess the following:

  • Master’s degree or higher
  • Minimum 10 years of experience executing successful Foundation and grantmaking partnerships, or other relevant experience
  • Proven track record of securing seven-figure partnerships, including philanthropy, complex grants, and (multi-donor) technical collaborations.
  • Proven track record of successful strategy planning and implementation and a demonstrated ability to lead and manage workflow processes
  • Strong understanding of the nonprofit sector, and familiarity with best practices and techniques of fundraising, grantmaking, and bespoke partnership management
  • Strong understanding of the philanthropy sector and knowledge of current trends in the philanthropic landscape with a focus on civil society grantmaking organizations and faith based/driven partners.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strategic thinking
  • Proven exceptional written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated experience with Salesforce or other CRMs
