Bank of America Joins WFP USA As Rapid Emergency Responder
More recently, Bank of America provided an additional $200,000 from the Emergency Response Fund to help deliver school meals to children affected by emergencies worldwide. These children, who have often been displaced for long periods of time, are receiving an education–and school meals–at refugee camps supported by WFP and local partners. As a result of the bank’s support, 400,000 school meals have been provided to children surviving ongoing emergencies across the globe.
Bank of America has long been a leader in emergency relief, having previously supported WFP USA by helping families impacted by the 2010 earthquake in Haiti and the 2011 drought in the Horn of Africa.

Since 2005, the Bank of America Charitable Foundation has provided more than $1.2 million through direct grants and employee matching gift support to WFP as part of its longstanding commitment to help those at risk of hunger. “Addressing the critical needs of individuals facing food insecurity is a fundamental piece of our philanthropic strategy, and we recognize the need for support is magnified in times of disaster,” said Kerry Sullivan, president of the Bank of America Charitable Foundation. “As a financial institution, we understand that healthy communities are vital to economic growth, and we’re honored to partner with World Food Program to serve individuals in need.”
