Food Security Policy

Congress and Food Security

World Food Program USA’s policy work is built on a foundation of Congressional affairs, coalition building and policy campaigns aimed at improving U.S. food security programming abroad. This contributes to the World Food Programme (WFP)’s mandate to ensure everyone has access to nutritious food.

No organization does more to fight hunger than WFP, but without the support of the United States this would not be possible.

For more than 50 years, the U.S. government has led the world in funding for food and humanitarian assistance.

Our policy team works on research, analysis, and advocacy to strengthen this bipartisan legacy of support through its advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill. The team also helps to illuminate WFP funding challenges and shortfalls, serving as a bridge of information between the agency and Congress. Our policy team helps members and Congressional staff better understand the invaluable role WFP plays in the lives of vulnerable families.
