WFP Responds to Hurricane Melissa
In the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, WFP is rushing food and essential supplies to affected communities across the Caribbean. By sea and air, we are deploying lifesaving assistance and surge teams as quickly as possible.
Disaster Prep
Ahead of Hurricane Melissa, WFP sent early warning messages, pre-positioned food stocks in critical locations and provided cash distributions to families in the storm’s path.
Food Assistance
WFP is providing emergency food assistance to communities hit hardest by the hurricane. Food boxes contain rice, lentils, canned fish and meat and vegetable oil.
Logistics
WFP is working closely with governments and regional disaster agencies to determine the most urgent food security needs and ensure fast delivery of assistance.
