As the year comes to a close, we’re looking back at your hits — the content that topped your charts and kept you hitting replay on our work this year. Here’s your 2024 World Food Program USA Wrapped:
1. You Went Back to Basics
Ending hunger is a complex issue. That’s why 71,000 of you made this our most popular blog: 10 Countries Suffering the Most From Hunger. By reading it, you learned that the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan, and Afghanistan were some of the hungriest places on the planet. Learning looks good on you.
2. You Put Your Money Where Your Heart Is
This PBS NewsHour report gave you all the feels. We warned that the hunger crisis in Sudan could become the largest in the world — and in response, you donated $44K. That puts you in the top 2% of do-gooders.
3. You Kept Your Finger on the Pulse
You didn’t shy away from news on hunger crises. In June, nearly 4,000 of you read this press release, which called for urgent action to save lives in Gaza, Sudan, South Sudan, Haiti, and Mali. We’re so lucky to have dedicated followers like you!
4. Your Heaviest Rotation: Gaza
The emergency that most captured your attention this year was Gaza. Tens of thousands of you read, clicked, watched, listened to, and shared our updates — pushing this content to the top of the charts:
- This Webpage – 56.4K views
- Instagram Post – 3.6K likes and 170 comments
- TikTok Video – 620 comments and 178K views
- Facebook Post – 110 reactions, 14 shares, and 12 comments
5. You’re a Huge Fan of The Weeknd Too!
Abel Tesfaye — better known to the world as The Weeknd — directed $2 million from his XO Humanitarian Fund to the U.N. World Food Programme’s emergency response in Gaza. That announcement became the top post on X and one of our most engaged posts on Instagram. He really was in his Starboy era.
6. You’re Solution-Oriented
When we say we have the power to end hunger in our lifetimes, we mean it — and so do you. Over 11,000 of you wanted to understand why hunger happens (hint: it’s war), and another 10,000 found us by searching “world hunger solutions.” We’re so glad you asked!
7. You Loved Billy on LinkedIn
“Every grain we deliver saves lives.” We shared this powerful quote from Billy Keita, a 60-year-old WFP Logistics Officer, and you turned up the volume. It became our most popular LinkedIn post this year. It’s a much-needed reminder that no gift is too small. Your support translates directly into grains, beans, and other vital supplies for those who need it most. That makes you #1 in our books!
The most important stat isn’t even measurable: We have the best fans in the world. From sharing stories to signing petitions to making donations, you help power our mission to end global hunger. From all of us here at World Food Program USA, thank you for your support.
