Andrew Zimmern is an Emmy-winning and four-time James Beard Award-winning TV personality, chef, writer and social justice advocate. Andrew was officially designated as a Goodwill Ambassador in December 2021 but his support for our mission started long before that. In October 2021, Andrew joined the fourth installment of our Us Against Hunger virtual panel series, speaking alongside WFP experts in the topic of “The Future of Hunger & Food Systems.” Additionally, he appeared in two videos for WFP which were highly promoted. The first video was shared as part of our global famine campaign and featured Andrew alongside other globally revered chefs. The second video focused on Andrew’s passion for food systems reform and was released globally on World Food Day.

In January 2022, Andrew placed an op-ed in the Washington Post to bring awareness to the need on cutting down food waste as a driver of hunger.

In April 2023, Andrew took his first mission trip as a WFP Goodwill Ambassador. He traveled to Zambia with our team to meet the people WFP serves and learn about climate-resilient solutions that are improving the lives of small-scale farmers, schools, and entire communities.

Andrew partnered with us on a shortform digital series called Paving the Way to Zero Hunger documenting his field visit in Zambia. The highly acclaimed program received over 7 million views and won the prestigious Anthem Award.
